Perry School was founded by Director, Dawn Lesley Stewart in 2001 to fill the need for an ever blossoming family community in the West Village.  Originally located on Washington Place, word about Baby Moves spread quickly throughout the neighborhood and Dawn quickly realized her need for a larger space.  For 10 years, Baby Moves, found its niche and home in an airy open garage space on Perry Street. In 2010, Perry School as it was appropriately renamed moved its entities which includes Baby Moves and Go Pop kids to a larger space in the historic Westbeth Center for the Arts at 155 Bank Street between Washington and West Streets. We are delighted to share our space with the Westbeth Artist Community.

Many families had grown up with our “mommy and me” classes and quickly graduated into our toddler classes. Dawn found a need for a preschool.  With her vision, Perry School has progressed into what it is today with Perry School -our alternative preschool, Baby Moves classes and our after school program: Go Pop Kids.

Perry School is an alternative preschool for children ages 2-5. We offer classes for 2’s, 3’s and 4’s in our spacious and naturally bright classrooms. Each age group has a dedicated classroom with an arts and science based curriculum taught by qualified, loving teachers. Our philosophy is to encourage each child to grow to their optimum potential in a safe and nurturing environment, and prepare them for kindergarten and the years ahead.

 

Baby Moves is our program for families with babies and toddlers.  Baby Moves offers classes in art, music, gym, cooking, language arts, and many classes in between for children and their caregivers.  We offer a safe, clean, fun and a social place to learn and play.

 

Go Pop Kids is our daily after-school program for children ages 4+. We offer fun classes focused in the arts such as Musical Theater, Dance, Music, Arts and Crafts, Karate, Jewish Enrichment and Homework Help.  At the end of each semester Go Pop Kids is proud to present a Showcase of the hard work and dedication the children put forth for their families and friends to attend.

 

NYC Kids Camps is our summer program based in art and science. Our camp runs all summer for children ages 2-8 at Perry School located in the Westbeth Center for the Arts. Guided by our fantastic counselors our campers have the opportunity to explore New York City and all the wonders this City has to offer.

 

Fairytale Camp is offered in one-week increments throughout the summer and holidays through NYC Kids Camps for children ages 3-5.  In Fairytale Camp your little one will explore a story, make props, decorate backdrops, learn songs and put on a play at the end of the week.  The productions are so fun we can’t get enough of them!

 

NYC Kids Party offers our great space at 155 Bank Street for the ultimate party experience. We offer a variety of themes and packages such as a Dance Party with DJ, The Art Farm, Classic Magicians or Clowns. The space is versatile and our talented team of party planners are dedicated to your vision. We assure you a memorable, stress-free experience.
