Class Descriptions

Kids Cabaret :

Our Musical Theater class will have children singing, dancing and acting in musical plays from licensed MTI Broadway productions such as Suessical, Willy Wonka Kids!, Cinderella Jr. and off-Broadway favorites as well.  The children may have the opportunity to direct, act and sing in their own productions while building great musical theater skills.

This program is geared towards 4-12 year olds.  The youngest actors will have the chance to work in a group setting learning how to maneuver within a group in sequence and song.  They will also learn how to take light direction while building an excellent foundation for musical theater.  The older group (ages 5+) will become crucial members of musical theater.  Each child will shine with a role placed through audition, dedication, then skill.  This musical theater class is fun and your child will learn the inner workings of how to put on a show and love it!   The end of each semester culminates into a performance for our the Go Pop Kids Revue.

Go Pop Kids Revue is showcased in a theater and features our Go Pop Kid Revue dancers and the musical theater production.  All performances carry the musical theater theme for the semester. For instance, Willy Wonka had all  dancers doing performances relating to sugar and candy and a bit of Oompa Loompa.

Please note that costume fees are additional and average $45.

Private Music Lessons:

We offer private lessons for guitar, piano, or voice. Private lessons are 30 minutes. We offer these amazing lessons with qualified, professional instructors whose students are currently on Broadway for only $45.

Dance:  Pre Ballet, Ballet, Tap, & Creative Movement

The Go Pop Kids Afterschool Dance Program offers classes in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop and creative movement for ages 3-10. Our dynamic curriculum develops skills of coordination, balance, flexibility and rhythm while fostering creativity, cooperation and a healthy self image. Through a variety of music, activities, stories and props, we build a foundation for a lifelong love of the arts!

To share their talents with family and friends, each class will have the opportunity to create a dance in their own particular style that will be performed in our Go Pop Kids Revue at the end of each semester in a local theater.

Construction Station

Young architects and engineers engage in projects building bridges, laying bricks and making gardens.  Our skilled teaching artists use unique recycled materials to make the activities exciting for everyone!

Science Exploration

Through hands on activities in our Science Picnic, children will explore animals, outer space, dinosaurs, human body, volcanoes, bugs and recycling.

Think Tank is our Kindergarten Readiness Program that allows children to develop critical thinking skills along with mastery of basic skills.

Our teachers are highly qualified and are trained to teach highly effective verbal and nonverbal reasoning activities to improve your child’s vocabulary, reading, writing, math, logic, and figural-spatial skills, as well as their visual and auditory processing. Our teachers are familiar with different activities and strategies to help your child achieve academic success on these exams.  All of our teachers have degrees focused on and experience with early education. Our daily activities are developmentally sequenced. Each skill (for example, classifying) is presented first in the semi-concrete figural-spatial form and then in the abstract verbal form.

Children learn to analyze relationships between objects, between words, and between objects and words as they:

•Observe, recognize, and describe characteristics.

•Distinguish similarities and differences.

•Identify and complete sequences, classifications, and analogies.

The children learn to think critically, cognitively, quickly and efficiently.

Some families simply want to give their child a head start in kindergarten and some families simply want their child to do more than play at PreK.  Whatever you choose, Think Tank is a plus.  What a better introduction to learning than a fun, creative and loving atmosphere.  The children are so ready to learn that it is a pleasure teaching them.

In school systems like New York City, the Bracken School Readiness Assessment, along with the Otis Lennon School Abilities Test (OLSAT), is used to screen for access to gifted/talented programming and schools. We have access to many of the questions and answers as well as the materials and supplies to reinforce the subject matter and instill the love of learning and the focus needed to think critically and listen carefully to the question.  Being able to listen is half of the battle.

We carefully listen and allow each child to learn both quietly and with the group.  Each child will have their own assessment folders and workbooks.  We play games, use positive reinforcement, and use different manipulatives to show the relationship between what they are learning and real life.

Our Think Tank families have been featured in the NY Times as parents and children that have had success with our program as well as entry into both Citywide and districtwide Gifted and Talented programs in the NYC school system.

Although not guaranteed, our Think Tank program has been highly successful for entry to G&T.

Schools that our Think Tank graduates are attending now include but are not limited to:

  • N.E.S.T + M
  • Chelsea Prep
  • Lower Lab
  • William T Harris (PS 11) in Chelsea
